Aisle O'var are scholars and practitioners of the Ancient and Noble Science of Defence and that most excellent of ancient country sports, English Country Backswording Circa 1600. Our main focus is in the study of the single-handed broadsword/backsword and the English Quarterstaff/Tip staff using the principles of the true fight as laid down by George Silver in his Paradoxes of Defence in 1599 and his unpublished manuscript A brief instruction upon my paradoxes of defence and many other historical treatises for our studies of Traditional English Martial Arts (TE-MA) in order that we practise a complete martial system.

Black Boar Swordsmanship School is a martial arts school based in North Eastern Fife, and Edinburgh. It teaches the arts of military sabre, walking stick, courtsword and antagonistics to students 18 years and over.

The Dawn Duellists Society is a historical fencing group studying the martial art of fencing, based in the centre of Edinburgh, Scotland's capital. It aims to replicate as closely as possible the study of the arts of fencing in Western Europe from the 13th to 19th centuries. Studies cover disciplines as wide ranging as medieval longsword and sword and buckler through renaissance rapier to the military sabre, classical fencing and stick arts of the 19th century.

We are a Swansea based Western Martial Arts group, studying in the main techniques for long-handled and single-handed sword combat used in the period from the 13th and 16th Centuries.

Training every Wednesday 18:00 to 19:30 at St. Phillips Community Hall, Swansea.

The Linacre School of Defence exists to train its members in a pragmatic and martial approach to 18th-century British martial arts. Training is conducted in the small-sword, back-sword and pugilism as if preparing for a serious encounter rather than school play. The intention is to produce martial artists capable of competently defending their lives in a manner with which our ancestors would have been familiar. To develop the skills of our students we attempt to meet and train with practitioners of diverse (primarily Western) systems whenever possible. We aim also to promote an understanding of the theory of the art through the study of period texts.

The London Sword and Dagger Club is an historical European martial arts group based in central London. Formed in the summer of 2010 we study martial arts based on historical documents. We are proud members of the British Federation of Historical Swordplay. Anyone over 18 is welcome to train with us regardless of gender, race or religion.

The training at the club is focused on learning the hand to hand skills needed to survive on a medieval battlefield, in a formal duel or on the streets of a place and era far more dangerous and violent than our own. As such, we don’t train to participate in competitions, for fitness, or to find inner tranquility and enlightenment. However, our training may include some of those as a means to an end or possibly as happy side effects. We are not a re-enactment society, theatrical swordfighters, or live action role-players, although many have found the kind of training we offer to be helpful to those activities.

We practice swordsmanship from the medieval period, specialising in the German Longsword.

Classes are on Mondays, 7.30 - 9.15 in the Donegall Pass Community Centre, Belfast.

Schola Gladiatoria is led by Matt Easton and has classes in London (Ealing) and Yorkshire (Bradford). It also has informal activities in Surrey (Guildford). We have taught at events across Europe since 2001 and cover medieval Italian and German knightly traditions (longsword, dagger, pollaxe, spear) as well as Victorian sabre and bayonet. We have won and ranked highly in numerous competitions throughout Europe and we run one of Europe's largest annual events - FightCamp. Our doors are always open to beginners

We, as a School, have been practising and teaching HEMA for over 25 years. Our current teaching syllabus is based upon the 1503 - 1510 treatise by Master Sigmund Ringeck (the elder), who's own book expands on the teachings of the great Master Johannes Liechtenauer, setting down his system in the form of rhyming couplets in the mid 14th Century. Our current interpretation of the late medieval German system of fence has evolved from more than 15 years invested in researching, understanding and developing the principles involved in the system. Having based this research upon our own translation and interpretation of the manuscript we have rediscovered a very effective martial system from which sound martial principles have arisen and around which our syllabus has been designed. Our teaching very much focuses on the proper application of technique and discipline, encouraging our students to see the system as a whole and not just as a series of actions and reactions. Our gradings are currently based upon the longsword system as taught by Liechtenauer and the disciplines we teach are longsword, sword and buckler, dagger, messer, wrestling, staff and pole weapons, involving armoured and un-armoured techniques.

All students start off looking at 19th Century British Military Sabre, initially at the works of Capt. Alfred Hutton, but then moving towards including the principles of the much earlier works of George Silver. Once a student attains Free Scholar rank, he may then request lessons in other weapons including Longsword (Fiore, Ringeck), Smallsword (Angelo, Hope) and Rapier (Fabris).

The SSA (previously Sussex Rapier School) was founded in 1997. It strives to cover all things sword and sword related from Longsword to Rapier and Highland Broadsword to Small Sword as well as other sword related forms. The SSA's aim is to become a centre for sword study (hence the change in the name). In addition to the weekly programme, one to one tuition, weekend workshops and bespoke courses are available on request. All levels of ability welcome, from beginner to advanced. The Longsword, Rapier and Highland Broadsword are introduced to the beginner, these weapons are used to impart the basic concepts of fencing. There is a defined SSA level system, whether the student wishes simply learn the art of defence, or would prefer to study in order to become an instructor and, in time, a master at arms.

The Exiles is a Martial Arts School based in London England with several study groups around the UK and Europe. We teach a workable and full martial curriculum to students that enables them to both fight just as those who were originally trained in our Arts and to a level that they could rely upon their skills to defend themselves in modern-day situations.

The HSD pursues the historically accurate study of Europe's traditional fighting arts, most commonly the use of sword between the years 1300 and 1700. Our ethos is to research, practice and uphold the teachings and legacy of the original historical masters of defence, according to the principles they recorded for all time.

The School has four chapters, located in Alnwick, Northumberland, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Consett, County Durham, and Coldstream in the Scottish Borders.

Methods studied include longsword, Highland broadsword, spear, pollaxe, messer, sword and buckler and dussack.

We are a newly formed School studying Western Martial Arts in Lincoln, on a Friday evening between 7:30 - 9:30pm

We are studying techniques using Tomahawk and Long Knife, but we also run sessions on the use of the Longsword

At this time we are not taking on new students, but we will be taking on new students on October 2011.

We are a study group working on the 16th Century manuscripts of Joachim Meÿer as part of the Meyer Frei Fechter Guild. In 1570, Meÿer published a work entitled Gründtliche Beschreibung der Kunst des Fechtens ("A Thorough Description of the Art of Combat") illustrated by Tobias Stimmer.  It is this that we are studying among his other works. We train Longsword at the moment.
