Smallsword Symposium 2026

The world’s first and largest event celebrating the art of smallsword, an elegant weapon for a more civilised age.Hosted each year in Scotland’s capital city, Edinburgh, participants will experience an exciting weekend of classes and social activities. It’s a fantastic opportunity to meet, network and socialise with the global historical fencing / HEMA community.The event is suitable for established fencers and beginners alike!
2026 Event
This year’s Smallsword Symposium officially takes place from Friday 2nd to Sunday 4th October 2026.
Friday 2nd October
We’ll be hosting a meet and greet social in the evening. Its the perfect way to start the weekend, where you can relax with your fellow participants over food and drinks.
Saturday 3rd October
A day of exciting smallsword themed classes to choose from, alongside opportunities for free play and duels. In the evening, we’ll be hosting a buffet style dinner for participants, which is included in the ticket price.
Sunday 4th October
Another day of classes, free play and some fun fencing games. In the evening, folks are welcome to join us for informal drinks in the city centre to toast the end of another amazing symposium!
Is There an Official Timetable?
Yes, the final timetable of activities and their timings will be made available at the event. Ask our event facilitators during check-in on Saturday 2nd October, and they will be happy to provide a copy.
